Lucknow is a small community in the municipality of Huron-Kinloss, known for its strong ties back to its Scottish ancestry. Named after a village in India, Lucknow was settled in 1865 when its first settler built a dam and sawmill in the area. The village boomed in the late 1800’s, when the Lucknow Caledonian Games took place, bringing in great athletes to the area. Today the town boasts approximately 1100 full time residents.
For a small town, Lucknow is packed with exciting entertainment. Lucknow is home to the Lucknow Music Fields festival, a two day country music event that brings internationally acclaimed country music stars to the town every summer. Lucknow also holds an exciting Strawberry Summerfest weekend with live street entertainment, antique shows, and sports tournaments. The town also has a busy sports complex, six churches, senior’s homes and public schools.
